Article 1 – Definitions
For the purpose of these Terms & Conditions, the following definitions apply:
Academy
Gungsul Academy, operating under Dojodendrijver.
Instructor
Any person authorized by the Academy to provide instruction, supervision, coaching, or safety guidance
during training sessions.
Head Instructor
The person responsible for the overall technical and organizational management of the Academy,
currently Dominic den Drijver.
Member
Any person registered with the Academy and participating in training sessions.
Participant
Any person attending a training session, including members, trial participants, guests, and assistants.
Training Session
A scheduled activity organized by the Academy, including free shooting sessions, instructional classes,
workshops, demonstrations, and special events.
Equipment
Any archery-related material, including bows, arrows, thumb rings, protective gear, quivers, and
accessories.
Training Venue
Any location used by the Academy for training activities, including but not limited to USC Universum and
USC Amstelcampus.
KHSN
Koninklijke HandboogSport Nederland, the Dutch national archery federation.
Article 2 – General Information
2.1 Training Schedule
Training sessions are organized at USC Universum and/or USC Amstelcampus. Current training times and
schedule updates are communicated through the Academy website, WhatsApp group, or other official
communication channels.
2.2 Training Format
Regular weekly sessions primarily consist of free shooting and individual practice. At least one Instructor
will be present during each session to provide guidance, supervision, and support.
2.3 Style of Practice
The Academy may organize dedicated classes focusing on other styles of archery. Such sessions shall be considered official instructional classes rather than free shooting sessions.
2.4 Gungsul Academy Philosophy
Certain lessons may specifically focus on Gungsul principles and techniques, during which free shooting may be restricted. Upon request, Members may obtain a document describing the principles and methodology of Gungsul.
The Academy aims to combine practical shooting skills with the preservation and study of traditional archery principles.
Article 3 – Membership Requirement
3.1 Admission Requirements
To participate as a Member, an individual must:
a. Successfully complete the USC Beginner Archery Course; or
b. Demonstrate at least one year of traditional archery experience, subject to assessment during a trial
session.
The Academy reserves the right to determine whether a participant possesses sufficient experience for
admission
Article 4 – Fees and Payments
4.1 Membership Fees
Membership fees are charged on a monthly basis and are not calculated per individual training session.
Payments are processed through PayPro or a successor payment provider designated by the Academy.
4.2 Discounts
The Academy may offer discounts to Members who:
- Use their own approved equipment;
- Assist with instruction, organization, or supervision of training sessions; or
- Fulfil other criteria determined by the Academy.

Article 5 – Attendance and Capacity
5.1 Training Opportunities
The Academy cannot guarantee a minimum number of arrows shot or a minimum amount of range time during any session.
No refunds or compensation will be provided based on individual expectations regarding shooting volume.
5.2 Capacity Expansion
If participation levels consistently exceed available capacity, the Academy may investigate opportunities
for larger or additional training facilities.
Article 6 – Safety Regulations
Safety is the responsibility of every Participant.
Participants must at all times comply with instructions issued by Instructors and observe the following
rules:
- The shooting line may only be crossed after the command “Archers Down” has been given.
- Arrows must always be pointed toward the target.
- Dry-firing a bow is strictly prohibited.
- An arrow may only be nocked while standing on the shooting line.
- When not actively shooting, bows must be safely put away. Either on the ground, against the wall, on a bowhook or on a bench.
- Equipment belonging to another person may not be used without permission.
Violation of safety regulations may result in warnings, suspension from participation, or termination of
membership.
Article 7 – Equipment Requirements
7.1 Approved Bows
The following bow types are permitted:
• Korean bows;
• Turkish bows;
• Mongolian bows;
• Other horse bows approved by the Academy.
If uncertainty exists regarding equipment compliance, Participants must consult an Instructor prior to use
7.2 Draw Weight
The maximum permitted draw weight is 45 pounds due to the indoor shooting distance of approximately
18–20 meters.
7.3 Arrows
Only carbon arrows are permitted.
The use of wooden arrows, fiberglass arrows, and illegal or unsafe arrowheads is prohibited.
7.4 Accessories
Sight systems, stabilizers, aiming devices, and comparable support systems are not permitted during
regular training sessions unless explicitly approved by the Instructor team.
7.5 Responsibility for Equipment
Participants remain fully responsible for the safekeeping, maintenance, and identification of their personal
equipment.
7.6 Equipment Inspection
The Academy reserves the right to inspect equipment for safety and compliance purposes.
Equipment supplied through Dojodendrijver is deemed approved unless otherwise indicated.
7.7 Protective Equipment
The use of a protective bow-hand glove is mandatory.
All other protective equipment is optional and used at the Participant’s own discretion.
Article 8 – Venue and Schedule Exceptions
8.1 Use of Facilities
Training facilities are rented from USC and remain subject to USC policies and availability.
8.2 Cancellation of Sessions
Training sessions may be cancelled due to:
• USC-wide events;
• Facility closures;
• Maintenance activities;
• Public holidays;
• Force majeure;
• Other unforeseen circumstances.
Participants will be notified as early as reasonably possible.
8.3 Holidays and Summer Period
No regular classes will be conducted during:
• Christmas holidays;
• New Year holidays;
• Easter holidays;
• Other periods in which USC is closed.
The Academy may also suspend regular activities during summer periods.
Cancelled sessions during these periods are not eligible for compensation.
Article 9 – Damage to Equipment
Archery equipment and arrows may occasionally become damaged during normal use.
- Participants are expected to resolve minor disputes concerning damaged equipment directly and
respectfully. - If no resolution can be reached, an Instructor may assist in mediation.
- The Academy is not liable for damage to personal equipment except where required by law.
- Equipment purchased through Dojodendrijver may be eligible for warranty assessment in
accordance with the applicable warranty conditions. - In the event that a participant causes damage to USC property, including but not limited
to walls, floors, bows, or other equipment, Stichting Dojo den Drijver will act solely as an
intermediary between the participant and USC. The participant remains fully
responsible and liable for any damage caused and any associated costs.
Article 10 – Instructors
The Instructor team currently consists of:
• Dominic den Drijver (Head Instructor)
• Kelly Homborg
• Michiel van der Meer
• Bas de Hoogen
• Assistant Instructors appointed by the Academy
Instructors may wear Academy clothing or other identifying apparel.
Article 11 – Conduct and Disciplinary Measures
Members and Participants shall behave respectfully toward fellow participants, instructors, venue staff,
and visitors.
Failure to follow instructions, repeated violations of Academy rules, unsafe behavior, or conduct deemed
inappropriate by the Instructor team may result in disciplinary measures, including:
1. First official warning;
2. Second official warning;
3. Third official warning;
4. Immediate termination of membership.
Membership terminated for disciplinary reasons is not eligible for refund.
Article 12 – Media and Privacy
12.1 Photography and Social Media
The Academy may use photographs and videos recorded during activities for promotional and educational
purposes.
By registering, Participants consent to the use of such material unless they have explicitly indicated
otherwise during registration.
12.2 Personal Data
Personal information is stored securely using Microsoft OneDrive and related Microsoft services.
Personal data will not be shared with third parties except where required by law or necessary for Academy
administration.
Members may receive newsletters and communications relating to Academy activities. These are sent
through the whatsapp group. (see 13.1)
Article 13 – Communication
13.1 WhatsApp Group
The Academy maintains a WhatsApp group for operational announcements and updates.
Participation is voluntary. Members who choose not to join remain responsible for staying informed
through other communication channels.

Article 14 – Equipment and Sales
14.1 Archery equipment may be purchased through Dojodendrijver and delivered during training
sessions. Questions concerning products, warranties, or availability should be directed to
Dominic den Drijver.
14.2 it is possible to borrow equipment for 3D Archery. This can be asked to Dominic prior to the
event. Usage of the lend materials is still at your own risk.
Article 15 – Clothing
Depending on the activity, different types of clothing are recommended.
For regular target shooting and 3D archery, we advise participants to wear comfortable
sportswear or other clothing that does not obstruct shooting. Avoid long, loose sleeves and
baggy trousers, as these may interfere with safe and accurate shooting.
For Archery Tag, sportswear is strongly recommended.
Gungsul Academy also has its own official club shirt available for purchase.
Article 16 – Amendments and Unforeseen Circumstances
16.1 Amendment of Terms & Conditions
The Academy reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time.
Changes shall be communicated through email, WhatsApp, the Academy website, or during training
sessions.
16.2 Unforeseen Circumstances
Matters not expressly covered by these Terms & Conditions shall be decided by the Instructor team. Such
decisions may subsequently be reviewed and incorporated into future revisions of these Terms &
Conditions.
Article 17 – KHSN Membership
All Members are required to obtain KHSN membership after four (4) months of participation in Academy activities.
Where applicable, Members may benefit from insurance and other services provided through KHSN membership. Further information is available at: www.handboogsport.nl
Upon registration with KHSN, Members shall also become subject to the regulations, policies, and terms and conditions of KHSN.
Article 18 – 3D archery and Archery Tag
Gungsul Academy offers various archery activities throughout the year, including 3D Archery
and Archery Tag. Participation in these activities requires a basic level of archery proficiency. As
a general guideline, participants are recommended to have attained at least the Second Rank
before taking part (see the Ranking Requirements for details, these can be requested during training).
Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of an instructor.
Participation in 3D Archery and Archery Tag is voluntary and entirely at the participant’s own
risk. Participants are expected to follow all instructions and safety guidelines provided by the
instructor at all times.
